The \"CM\" code in the IMPA code-list-set is mostly drawn from the \"Code for Commercial Marine Equipment and Services\" (CMCMAS). IMPA's tasks are to assess, code and check the quantities and descriptions of the products and services provided by the companies. The meaning of the IMPA-CMCMAS codes is defined in the \"Code Data Dictionary\" (CDD). For the CMCMAS codes IMPA provides a \"Verbatim\" (BL) for the coding and the periodic check lists, which are available as the English (EN), French (FR) and German (DE) language versions.

The IMPA is the world-wide association for companies and organisations with a presence in the maritime industry. Established in 1976, IMPA, based in London, is committed to creating opportunities for the companies within its network to develop and further the sustainability performance in the maritime sector. These specialised goods and services are coded in the IMPA Code, which are then matched up with the descriptions in the IMPA Code-list-set.
